Let’s go #GoodSpotting

November 22, 2011

#Goodspotting = getting caught in the act of doing good. Do good. Spot good. http://ow.ly/7AC5Z

Like our friends at the Case Foundation, NCoC has a sneaky feeling that if you look for it you’ll find that good actually exists all around us in the form of kind acts, words, and gestures we perform for family and friends. For years, we’ve been exploring ways that people are performing small and informal acts of service to help those around them.

So this holiday season, we’re taking this theory to the Internet and joining the Case Foundation in #GoodSpotting! Together, we’re catching people (or organizations) in the act of doing good. Snap a pic of your friend, neighbor, coworker (or it could be you!) doing something good, and share it online using the hashtag “#GoodSpotting.” You can also upload it directly from the Case Foundation Facebook page. Then enter the #GoodSpotting sweepstakes to win up to $500 in holiday spending money and $5,000 in grants for your favorite charity.

I think people rarely recognize their own efforts, either at the holidays or daily. To some, acts of kkindness are commonplace, as it is just part of their make-up. Showcasing the "good" in someone who has it year round would be a nice way of telling them "thank you".
