Presidents Park
Presidents Park in Williamsburg, Virginia, is an outdoor museum of the Presidents of the United States. Complementing Virginia’s historic triangle to bring its depiction of the Nation’s history from the Colonial Era to the present time, Presidents Park provides visitors with a detailed overview of each President as a leader of the oldest continuing democracy on earth, within the context of defining moments in U.S. history. Offering specialized grade-specific programs for school children, Presidents Park seeks to instill commitment to the importance of citizenship and service in a free and democratic society.
Mission
- Provide information on each President in a way that is captivating, compelling, and which inspires interest and further learning;
- Provide educational materials which meet the highest standards of scholarship while being accessible and interesting to the general public;
- Create enthusiasm and a desire for knowledge about our presidents and democracy;
- Instill a sense of civic responsibility and service to the nation;
- Convey the importance of voting and other forms of civic participation;
- Refer guests to presidential libraries and historic sites for further information.
Goals
- Increase its web presence and present materials online and in interactive format;
- Increase the number and type of programs for school children which include educational outreach into school sites.
- Host a variety of lectures and programs on site regarding important issues in Presidential history.
- Extend educational programs to serve post-secondary students and adult learners.
