American Youth Policy Forum

The American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF) is a non-partisan, professional development organization whose goal is to provide learning opportunities on youth policy issues at the national, state and local level for policymakers, researchers and youth-serving practitioners. Located in Washington, DC, AYPF provides information and experiences useful in the development of effective youth education, youth development, career training and transition-to-employment system (including formal and informal learning opportunities, internships, national community service, and more). AYPF convenes Capitol Hill briefings and site visits to schools and youth programs. The emphasis in these learning experiences is upon developing broad understanding and wide exposure to a range of youth policy issues. AYPF is a nonprofit.

AYPF’s goal is to provide learning opportunities that bridge the worlds of policy, research and practice in order to foster better informed youth policy.

AYPF provides learning opportunities through briefings and forums on Capitol Hill, site visits or field trips, and informative reports.

AYPF is very interested in service and civic engagement among America’s youth. AYPF hopes to provide learning experiences for our target audience that helps to build their knowledge on this area of youth development. Currently, it has an upcoming report for 2005 tentatively titled, A New Direction in Public Education: Striking the Balance Between Academics and Civic Engagement. It will be promoting and sharing the report with other organizations and policymakers over the coming year.
